A group of dedicated volunteers are keeping Charleville's history alive.
Historic House Museum began life in 1888 and is one of the few 'Queenslanders' left in Charleville. Purposely built as the National Bank and Manager's Residence, It has since been a boarding house and private residence. The building retains many original features, including marble fireplaces.
The historic collections include working gramophones, clothing and tools from the town and surrounding stations. The machinery collection includes a Dennis Fire Engine, Rail Ambulance and a replica Cobb and Co Coach.
Many people visit to find their ancestors and check up on family members who helped tamed the Outback.
At times, visitors to the Museum are treated to a performance by self-taught musician George on the Auto Harp....
